Do it with an agent#

The search integration ships an MCP server of its own. Point your agent at the solr webapp to query the index and to repair it.

One tool carries the application. Every call names the tool and one action.

• solr — search, status, reindex.

Ask what the index holds#

“Search the index for bike and tell me how many products answer.”

The agent calls solr:search. It reads the same index the storefront reads, so a wrong answer here is a wrong answer in the shop.

Repair the index#

“The catalog changed a lot today. Check the index and rebuild it if it is behind.”

The agent calls solr:status and, when it must, solr:reindex. A rebuild is a confirmed call: it is heavy and it runs while the shop is open.

The token is a user login. The agent does what that user may do, and nothing more. Every call writes one audit row. Read the security model before you hand a token out.
