Most of it does not touch a project that runs on 3.x, but some of it does.
This list comes from the changes in the 4.0 code. Work through it on a copy
of your installation, not on production.

1. The JDK and the build#

4.0 builds and runs on a Java 11, 17 or 21 JDK. The source level is
Java 11; with a JDK 17 or newer the build uses a Java 17 toolchain.

The build is Gradle (wrapper 8.5). The Ant build is gone.

Components in
hot-deploy/
and
addons/
are found automatically.

A fresh start is two commands:

Scipio ERP 4.0: annotations, agent access, manufacturing, Aurora

Scipio ERP 4.0 is the biggest release we have done. Between the 3.0.0 tag
and the 4.0.0 tag, 6,401 files changed. We went through every application,
one by one, and asked the same question each time: would we build it like
this today? Quite often the answer was no.

General Public License, version 3 (AGPL-3.0). Scipio ERP 3.x and every
earlier release stay under the Apache License 2.0, and nothing changes for
an installation that stays on them.

Beside the AGPL-3.0 there is a commercial license for the same code. So
there are two ways to use 4.0, and which one fits depends on what you do
with it. This post goes through the cases we are asked about most.

Scipio ERP 3.0.0 Released

Scipio ERP 3.0.0 has been released! This version
